Tonight I am reposting a short story from Australian author & poet Tilly Aston titled 'Our Local Laureate' from Old Timers: Sketches & Word Pictures from the Old Pioneers.
Tilly Aston was an Australian Poet and educator born in 1873. She was also blind and co-founder of Australia's first Braille Library & twice received the King's Medal for distinguished citizen service. Her poetry continues to inspire & resonate with readers, showcasing her talent as a writer and an advocate for the visually impaired community. She was a remarkable & inspiring woman.
