Our Local Laureate by Tilly Aston
Tonight I am sharing with you an excerpt from Old Timers: Sketches & Word Pictures from the Old Pioneers by Australian Poet & Author Tilly Aston. I will be reading a short story titled 'Our Local Laureate.' Tilly Aston was an Australian Poet and educator born in 1873. She was also blind and co-founder of Australia's first Braille Library & twice received the King's Medal for distinguished citizen service. Her poetry continues to inspire & resonate with readers, showcasing her talent as a writer and an advocate for the visually impaired community. She was a remarkable & inspiring woman.
